£1 million to be spent on improving railway station

Douglas Railway Station

Permission has been granted to spend over £1 million revamping Douglas Railway Station. 

Tynwald has agreed to support the Department of Infrastructure's capital project - although not everyone was in favour: 
 
 
That's Onchan MHK David Quirk who was one of two members to vote against the plans - the department argues that the project will pay for itself in the long term. 
 
Speaking before the debate Chief Minister Allan Bell said he appreciated why the figures had caused alarm:
