More than a quarter of the Island's population have signed a petition to save elm trees in St Mark's.
It comes following a planning application which would see 25 trees on Braaid Road felled to ‘improve road safety.’
It's sparked a strong backlash from residents - with 30,799 people having now signed a petition against the move.
Hundreds of people also gathered yesterday for a 'peaceful protest' to show their support.
