Arbory and Rushen Commissioners has raised its rates for the next financial year by 10.2 per cent.
It currently sits at 147 pence in the pound but this will increase to 162 pence in the pound from April.
Chair of the commissioners Kirrie Jenkins said the authority has seen a rise in ‘basic’ costs of services and the board is ‘acutely aware’ of the cost of living crisis facing its residents.
The authority says it will keep a ‘prudent’ approach to spending, but the Southern Recycling Centre and waste collection is more than half of its expenditure.
