Local authorities around the Island have been reacting to the news that Tesco is taking over Shoprite on the Isle of Man.
The retailing giant has bought all nine stores in a deal which is believed to put around 60 jobs, predominantly at head office, at risk.
Tesco is said to have taken 21-year leases on the premises around the Island but it’s led to questions about how much Manx produce will be stocked.
Rob Cowell, from Ramsey Commissioners, says Shoprite has been in the town for ‘decades’ supporting various good causes.
He believes change is inevitable:
Nominations open for Manx cultural hero awards
Passport and immigration public counters to temporarily close
Overnight delay means today's sailings will set off late
Fireworks displays to kick off with event tonight
Second night of police roadside car checks finds less defects
Society appeals for help about traditional gypsy caravans on the Island
Government issues bird flu warning after infected buzzard found
Will new UK law be brought in to protect Manx renters from mould?
