The Department of Infrastructure says it's banning cyclists from using the Mountain Road during the Festival of Motorcycling later this month.
Unlike in TT, the road remains two-way for the fortnight-long festival which gets underway on Saturday, August 19.
During this year's TT festival, police spoke to cyclists who were planning to tackle the route in an organised ride on the Friday of practice week.
Road Safety Manager Gordon Edwards says it's about making sure cyclists and other road users aren't at risk:
Nominations open for Manx cultural hero awards
Passport and immigration public counters to temporarily close
Overnight delay means today's sailings will set off late
Fireworks displays to kick off with event tonight
Second night of police roadside car checks finds less defects
Society appeals for help about traditional gypsy caravans on the Island

Will new UK law be brought in to protect Manx renters from mould?
