The Island's Environment Minister is looking for 'alternative solutions' to save historic woodland in St Marks.
It follows the news permission has been granted to fell Elm trees in the area.
It's been met with strong opposition from locals - with nearly 15,000 people signing a petition to stop the move.
It's claimed removing the trees will 'significantly improve' visibility and safety, following a crash there and several 'near misses'.
However, now Mr.Boot says he will engage with a landowner to try and find options which would not result in removal.
He says he is 'not comfortable' with the avoidable loss of any trees.
