Irish Skipper Fined £1500 for Illegal Fishing
The skipper of an Irish Fishing vessel has been fined a considerable amount of money for fishing illegally in Manx waters.
Kevin Collins, skipper of the Karen Mary appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Mr Montgomerie; he was caught fishing for Prawns 11 miles south west of Chickens Rock.
He was caught by the Manx Fisheries Protection Vessel.
In his defence he said his navigation equipment had malfunctioned making it difficult to fix his vessels position.
He was forced to pay £1500 and £150 in costs.
