Cav Needs Win to Keep Green Jersey Dream Alive
It’s the last throw of the dice today for Mark Cavendish with anything but a win seriously denting his Green Jersey campaign.
Cav has had a mixed Tour, after a disastrous start to the Tour things started to pick up again with a hat-trick of impressive victories.
The wins catapulted him back up the Green Jersey leader board into third place behind Thor Hushovd and Alessandro Petacchi.
There’s currently a 29-point deficit for him to over-turn, a tall order but it’s not impossible.
It’s thought that he will struggle without HTC-Columbia teammate Mark Renshaw who was disqualified for trying to head butt another rider metres from the finish line.
Today’s 198km stage will climax with a sprint finish in Bordeaux.
