Police are advising parents to 'safe guard' tech gifts this Christmas.
The plea comes in regards to technical gifts such as phones, tablets and games consoles.
It's now estimated 42 per cent of children aged 0-8 have their own tablet and plenty more parents will be buying them as presents this year.
Authorities say although technology can be both entertaining and educational, the more time spent onlinn can lead to greater levels of risk.
Therefore throughout December, The Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA) have joined forces with the Department of Education's 'Safer Schools team' to bring parents tips for some of the most sought after tgifts.
The Safer Schools App is free and has lots of helpful resources including tips for social media privacy settings, buying your child’s first phone, and about specific games.
