A pensioner who left a motorcyclist with serious injuries after a crash in Santon has been banned from driving.
Alasdair Campbell of Murray’s Lake Drive in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 65-year-old pleaded guilty to causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care and attention on Main Road in Santon on February 15.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Campbell pulled out of the Mount Murray Back Road in his Mini Cooper but didn’t see the approaching motorcyclist.
The biker had to drop his machine, and suffered a broken leg, ligament damage and severe bruising.
Campbell later told police he couldn’t explain why he hadn’t noticed the Honda.
Magistrates fined him £1,200 and ordered him to pay costs of £50 as well as imposing a one-year driving ban.
