Plans have been drawn up to use silt from Peel Marina to restore upland areas.
The project to remove 44,000 tonnes of it is due to begin next year - details were released yesterday ahead of a planning application to temporarily store and drain the silt on the outskirts of the town.
Material would then be used to revamp land next to the former Cross Vein Mine near Foxdale which was damaged during mining activity in the 19th century.
The detailed plans for the initiative will be on public display at Peel Town Hall from Monday, December 17 to Thursday, December 20, and also available on the government website.
