Tributes paid to "remarkable" John Kennaugh

John Kennaugh

Tributes are being paid to a "remarkable man" who was one of the Island's "real characters".

Known to many as the voice of Manx farming John Kennaugh died yesterday after a short battle with cancer.

It's a sentiment echoed by His Honour Deemster Doyle who's also paid tribute to the 77-year-old who served as a magistrate between 1983 and 2007.

He says the St John's man made a significant contribution to the administration of justice on the Island and gained much satisfaction in encouraging youngsters to lead law-abiding lives.

John, he says, can rest in the knowledge that he led his life to the full and made an "outstanding contribution" to the local community.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Richard Ronan told us the respected broadcaster will be missed:
