Walkers told 'don't disturb nesting terns'

Land at the Point of Ayre could be closed off if people continue to disturb the artic terns.

Walkers are being urged to stay away from nesting sites after reports of people breaching the fenced breeding colonies.
 
Senior biodiversity officer Richard Selman says it's becoming a real problem - especially as the weather gets better: 
 
 
The land is in private ownership but is kept open to the public - however the owners say if people continue to impinge on the wildlife they will think again. 
 
Under the Wildlife Act 1990 it's illegal to disturb nesting terns - Richard says disturbance does have an impact:
