We will be joined by Google Developer Experts Dominika Zając, Brecht De Ruyte and Guneet Mutreja, at the iMuseum in Douglas for DevFest 2024!
How to make the Internet accessible for everyone
Dominika Zając is a full-stack developer, Google Developer Expert for Web Technologies and Senior Software Engineer at Qualtrics. She is also a public speaker, trainer and blogger, writing and speaking about Web and a11y, and teaching others how to code and about coding best practices.
Dominika will be giving a talk on How to make the Internet accessible for everyone. Her talk will cover the basics on web accessibility, how to better understand users with specific needs, the most popular mistakes (and fixes for them). She’ll also show how to introduce accessibility into your software development lifecycle to avoid accessibility problems in the future.
The future of UI is open
Brecht De Ruyte is a self-taught front-end developer and Google Developer Expert for Web Technologies located in Belgium with a passion for UX and Design. After more than a decade working in tech, he decided to start a little blog for documenting his findings about HTML, CSS and JS with an eye on accessibility and UX. This soon grew to guest writing on Smashing Magazine and giving presentations.
Brecht will be joining us for his talk, The future of UI is open. He will be introducing us to the W3C community Open UI, whilst also exploring the future of styling custom UI with plain HTML and CSS — with performance boosts and accessibility out-of-the-box.
Leveraging Machine Learning and Google Earth Engine for Satellite Data Processing
Guneet Mutreja is a PhD student at the German Aerospace Center, focusing on advanced research in un/self-supervised algorithms for the classification of building roof forms and their 3D reconstruction. He is also an Google Earth Engine Expert, working diligently to strengthen and expand the Earth Engine community.
Guneet will be speaking on Leveraging Machine Learning and Google Earth Engine for Satellite Data Processing. His talk explores the synergy between machine learning and Google Earth Engine as powerful tools to handle the immense datasets generated by NASA’s Earth observation missions.
