Tesla recalls almost 700,000 vehicles over tyre pressure issue

Tesla has recalled almost 700,000 of its electric vehicles because of an issue with the warning light on the tyre pressure monitoring system.

Its warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tyre pressure and increasing the risk of a crash, the manufacturer said.

The issue affects some Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck vehicles, Tesla added.

It will be resolved through a free software update.

Letters notifying owners of the affected cars are expected to be sent on 15 February next year.

Tesla has issued several recalls throughout the year.

The carmaker, founded and run by Elon Musk, recalled 1.8 million vehicles in July because of a bonnet issue that could increase the risk of a crash.

In February it recalled nearly 2.2 million vehicles in the US because some warning lights on the instrument panel were too small.

Its Cybertruck has now been recalled seven times, with a recall last month involving around 2,400 vehicles.
