£10,000 fine for those breaching self-isolation rules

Those who don't adhere to self-isolation rules could face a fine of up to £10,000 or three months in prison.

That's according to the Chief Minister who confirmed the news in today's press briefing.

Now, anyone arriving on Island will have to go into quarantine for the next two weeks - the emergency measures were brought in to protect the Island against Coronavirus earlier this week.

Now, new powers mean those who don't follow this, could face a fine of up to £10,000 or 12 weeks in prison.

Government say they're in place to keep people safe and make sure those advised to self-isolate are adhering to the rules.

If people are caught breaking the rules they will face a hefty fine and a potential custodial sentence.

Ultimately, the Chief Minister said if you do go out when you're self isolating and spread it to vulnerable people you could be responsible for their death.
