'Cancelling MGP, Classic TT responsible thing to do'

Making an early decision to cancel this years Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT was the responsible thing to do amid the uncertainty around COVID-19.

That's according to Enterprise Minister, Laurence Skelly MHK, after his department and the Manx Motor Cycle Club made the joint decision on Monday to call off both events due to take place between August 11 and September 4.

Mr Skelly adds the move gives clarity for fans, racers and sponsors but also that it wouldn't be right to possibly place more demands on the Islands medical staff by letting the races go ahead.

Meanwhile, chair of the Manx Motor Cycle Club, Peter Maddocks, says even though everyone is facing uncertain times the club looks forward to planning to return to the course in 2021.
