Island farmers will receive their latest support payments arrive early due to the pressures on the industry during the Coronavirus pandemic.
That’s according to Environment, Food & Agriculture minister, Geoffrey Boot MHK, during today’s press briefing.
Farmers who qualified for the Agricultural Development Scheme (ADS) were due their latest payout at the end of the month but it has been brought forward to help ease the pressure farmers are facing to tend to their stock due to the current travel restrictions.
Mr Boot adds he recognises this is a busy time of year for those in the industry with Spring being a key time for lambing, cattle calving along with planting and sowing.
