Children of those going to work can be looked after by family members.
The Health Minister made the announcement after an influx of queries regarding childcare when people go to work.
He confirmed childcare can take place by family members but only for the purpose of someone going to work - he clarified they must be dropped off and collected door to door.
However, Mr Ashford added children should not be looked after by someone who is self-isolating or has received a shielding letter.
