Commissioners in Garff are urging residents against lighting bonfires during the current Coronavirus pandemic.
It comes after the authority has been contacted by a number of locals about the matter.
Officials say whilst doing so isn't illegal, burning waste can create toxic smoke which can cause nuisance or potenital health hazards for neighbours.
The government is currently asking people to store any excess waste for now if they can't take it to one of the Island's civic amenity sites.
People are also reminded that if they have to light a bonfire to contact the Emergency Services Joint Control Room (ESJCR) before doing so.
