Gyms and indoor facilities re-open but pools stay closed

Gyms and indoor facilities are opening their doors again today but swimming pools and spas remain shut.

The move is part of a series of restrictions being lifted on Island today following nearly four weeks without any new cases of Coronavirus.

Some indoor fitness classes, including yoga and pilates, will be able to resume with limited numbers but high intensity sessions are still not permitted at this time.

Elsewhere, groups of up to 30 people can now take part in outdoor contact sports and share equipment with competition and fixtures also able to get back up and running.

However, officials have confirmed swimming pools and spa facilities remain shut at this time - this will be reviewed again on Thursday (June 18).

At the NSC, whilst the gym, squash courts and indoor bowls hall will be open the main sports hall will remain shut.
