A new initiative is set to support social care workers who're buying food for the vulnerable in the community.
Manx Co-op says each authorised worker will now get a letter of authority and hi-vis jacket to mark them out in stores as needing to get items for others as a priority.
Those who qualify for the scheme will also be allowed, within reason, to buy more of the restricted products.
Retailers are asking that members of the public 'show compassion' towards these workers who they say are 'doing a very valuable job in looking after those in our community who may not be able to look after themselves'.
