Treasury proposing Coronavirus support

Treasury is proposing rules to allow anyone having to self-isolate claim incapacity benefits from day one.

Treasury Minister, Alf Cannan MHK, will also propose in Tynwald next week the period where people can self-certify for sickness will be temporarily extended to two weeks - the current rules only allow for one week.

The changes would support new guidelines brought in on Island yesterday over Coronavirus which say anyone who shows mild symptoms related to COVID-19 should self-isolate for at least seven days.

Mr Cannan adds income support is available for anyone needing extra financial support from day one and anyone unsure of their financial entitlements should contact the Social Security Division on 685 656.
