A charity golf day held by an Island company has raised over £10,500 for Hospice Isle of Man.
SMP Group hosted the occasion at Castletown Golf Links on Friday, August 14, which saw 19 teams take part with prizes for the overall winner as well as longest drive, straightest drive and nearest the pin.
£10,580 was generated in total, with SMP Group Director, Mark Reynolds, commenting: "Hospice Isle of Man is an organisation that many of our staff have a strong affiliation with, either through personal circumstances, or through the relationships built as part of our involvement in the Wallabies Gone Wild campaign in 2019.
"As these relationships have developed it has been very rewarding to see how our support has made a difference to the people in our community who rely on the care and services that they provide."
Meanwhile, Chief Executive of Hospice IOM, Anne Mills, says: "We need to raise almost £5million a year, so I was absolutely delighted that the SMP Golf Day helped to fundraise over £10,000 for our Hospice. To put this into perspective, the event has helped provide a place in our in-patient unit for one month.
"Over recent years we have formed an incredible ongoing relationship with SMP and as a charity and the Island’s only specialist palliative and end of life care provider, I am honoured they are continuing to support us."
SMP Group is hoping to make the event an annual one and hopes to share more information on it in due course.
