Commercial confidentiality can be best for taxpayer says Chief

The Chief Minister has defended commercial confidentiality contracts saying they can be in the best interests of the taxpayer.

Howard Quayle says it's better for the Isle of Man to get as many companies quoting for government contracts as possible. 

His comments come after Treasury Minister Alf Cannan defended keeping some information out of the public domain - despite it being taxpayers' money that's being spent. 

Mr Quayle says 'in principle' government wants to be transparent but when it's not it's for good reason:
