Company backs smoke alarm scheme

A Manx-based insurance company has helped provide hundreds of smoke detectors to vulnerable people.

Tower Insurance, based in Victoria Street in Douglas, teamed up with the Island's fire and rescue service to give out 160 detectors.

Firefighters gave out the alarms after free home safety visits across the Island.

Richard Hulme of Tower Insurance says he's honoured to be helping the potentially life-saving initiative.
