The Isle of Man branch of the Institute of Directors says it wants more directors to increase their knowledge and skills.
It's urging directors, across all sectors, to consider undertaking extra professional qualifications.
It comes as all of the members of the local Barclays board have completed the Institute of Directors Company Direction programme.
Two directors - managing director Simon Scott and risk director Philip O'Shea - have now become chartered directors as a result.
Chartered director is the only professional qualification for executive and non executive directors which combines knowledge and experience of how to make boards effective.
The qualification can be undertaken on the Isle of Man - the next course will start on June 19th.
