Police are warning Island businesses to be on their guard after one company almost fell for a fraudster's trick.
Officers say Manx firms have been sent e-mails with invoices from what appear to be real companies - only to find the payment details are bogus.
In one case a company almost paid a substantial amount of money before spotting the scam.
Police say businesses should verify all invoices especially those received by e-mail.
