Transformation planned for former bank

A former bank in Douglas could be transformed into offices and a bar - if planners give the go-ahead.

Bramden Property Investments has applied to change the use of part of the former Celtic Bank in Victoria Street.

In its application the company says a leading investment company will use the upper floors for it new headquarters.

But it's also planning to open a food and drink outlet on the ground floor.

The company says the ground floor would open between 11am and midnight and a former bank vault in the basement would be used to store kegs and wine.

The rest of the building would be devoted to corporate offices, with a new facade planned to replace the building's current design which dates to 1984, when the Regal Cinema on the site was demolished.

Bramden has also applied to build an extension at the back of the building to provide more office space.
