A pensioner who didn’t slow down for a give way sign ran over an 86-year-old woman, leaving her in hospital for six weeks.
Vivien Roma Proven of Seacliffe View in Onchan appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 84-year-old changed her plea and admitted causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care and consideration, just two weeks before a trial was due to be held.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing Proven was driving along Park Avenue West in Onchan at 11.30am on January 1 last year.
She hit the woman, who was crossing the road at Port Jack, throwing her into the middle of the road and leaving her with a double-fracture to her pelvis.
When police arrived, the retired nurse denied hitting the woman and told officers she’d fallen over in the road.
Magistrates fined her £2,500 and ordered her to pay £800 in costs, and Proven was also banned from the roads for two years.
