ACU appoint new Clerk of the Course for TT 2012

The ACU have announced that they have conducted a comprehensive review of the senior race officials ahead of next years TT races.

The most significant outcome of the review is the decision to replace existing Clerk of the Course Eddie Nelson.

Gary Thompson, MBE, BEM, will take over the role, he has been the General Secretary of the ACU since 2003 and was formerly a serving officer in the Army.

Eddie Nelson was forced to apologise during this years TT after comments he made about the Marshall’s were overheard on the talkback radios.

His comments sparked fears of a mass walkout, but things were subsequently smoothed over following his apology.

The full list of Senior Official appointments that have been made by ACUE for the 2012 TT Races is as follows:

Jim Parker - Race Director

Gary Thompson MBE BEM - Clerk of the Course

Paul King - Deputy Clerk of the Course

Eddie Nelson - Safety Officer

Stuart Drummond - Chief Paddock Marshal

Michelle Haynes - Secretary of the Meeting

Don Ryder - Chief Steward
