Are Manx teenagers clued up on the cost of living?

UK survey reveals majority of teenagers are out of touch with the price of every day necessities

It was revealed in a recent UK survey that a high percentage of teenagers are out of touch with the price of every day necessities, bought by their parents.

50% were unaware of the price of a loaf of bread, with 60% not sure on the cost of milk and eggs.

Over 55% failed to identify to identify the correct price of 15 basic shopping basket items.

With this in mind 3FM decided to put some Ballakermeen sixth form students to the test who will be headed to University in a years time.

We asked them if they feel confident handling their own finances and what are their main concerns ahead of making the move across.

Not one of the six students could identify the cost of bread, milk and stamps, with the prospect of a £145.50 TV licence a real cause for concern.
