It's thought that the Steam Packet Company is calling in the Arrow to assist with priority freight.
It's been reported that customers relying on the freight for the busy final weekend before Christmas have been contacted and informed of the contingency plan.
The Arrow will still sail to Heysham tonight, but it won't be able to return until Friday morning, after all crossing for tomorrow have been ruled out.
It's been confirmed that there will be no Manxman crossings to or from Heysham between this evening and tomorrow, with an update on tomorrow's evening crossing expected tomorrow morning.
