ATL Union want candidates to be clearer about education in their manifestos

Concern that more job cuts could have serious implications for standards of education provision

The Isle of Man's branch of education union the ATL, is calling on election candidates to be clear about manifestos for education.

Branch Secretary Andrew Shipley is calling for a clear declaration of priorities with regards to budgetary issues and where future savings can come from.

Ultimately they want a statement on whether teacher jobs can be protected.

He said if more teachers lose their jobs it would make certain subjects unviable, perhaps lead to an increase in class sizes and in extreme cases could result in a 4 day week for schools.
