Cavendish blown off course in Tour of Qatar

Mark Cavendish's hopes of bagging a second consecutive stage win for Team Sky were dashed yesterday after the weather intervened.

Things were looking good for Cav, however a blustery half-gale wind set the rider back, meaning the World Champion lost nearly a minute on winner Tom Boonen.

The win further cemented Boonen's overall lead in the Tour of Qatar, it knocked Cavendish from 3rd to 11th overall.

The Manxman now has 2 flat stages remaining to try and salvage the tour and increase his final placing.
