Impossible for Cav to Break Away In Very Tough Road Race
Manxman Mark Cavendish could only manage a 7th place finish in Delhi yesterday following a very tough road race.
Despite giving it his all ultimately it became impossible for Cavendish to break away from the pack as he was well marked throughout the race.
It was always anticipated that Cav would struggle to make the breaks he needed to, given his reputation as the world’s fastest sprinter.
Before the race he had bitter words for fellow Manx riders Peter and Tim Kennaugh, accusing them of letting their country down by opting out of the Games at the last minute.
In the post race interview however he praised his all-amateur Manx team saying they performed to the same standard of his professional HTC team.
The race rounds of a season of highs and lows for the Manxman.
