Charity braced to face tough competition in purchase of lighthouse

The plight of the Beach Buddies charity to buy a much loved lighthouse in the north of the Island is looking increasingly likely.

In just a few days the organisation has raised £8,000 towards the £10,000 price tag of the Winkie light house at the Point of Ayre.

Founder Bill Dale has said there are no firm plans for how it would be utilised but said it would be the perfect meeting point for the beach buddies.

He conceded however there is a large amount of interest and they may come up against some hefty counter offers:
