The chair of Port Erin Commissioners believes the money it would cost to hold a fireworks display is ‘better spent’ on other events.
The local authority confirmed it won’t be holding a display on Bonfire Night after not budgeting for it.
While the event has been ‘well-attended’ in the past, the cost of a 15-minute display is estimated to be around £7,000 to £10,000, which Godfrey Egee says can be used on other events during the year.
