Community service for mother who stole clothes

A mother who stole to "feed the family" has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service.

28-year-old Natalie Bayle was handed the punishment at Douglas Courthouse yesterday after previously pleading guilty to theft.

The Douglas woman stole over £749 worth of clothes from the Mill Shop at Tynwald Mills on April 13th - the items were then sold on for cash.

Bayle's advocate told the court it was a case of a "desperate woman succumbing to desperate actions" saying she used the money to pay bills and buy food.

He said she was "extremely remorseful" that she has now found herself back at square one.

Bayle was sentenced to 70 hours of community service for the theft and an additional 30 hours in lieu of a compensation payment.
