A relative of one of the residents from the Gansey Unit who will be moved to Douglas on Tuesday says the move could prove detrimental in the long term.
The concerned family member, who does not wish to be named, says research shows that patients with dementia do not cope well with change.
She says some of the relatives of the residents are unable to drive and will not be able to visit their loved ones as much as before.
Speaking to 3FM she highlighted why she thinks the move will be disruptive:
