Court for man who ordered Diazepam from the Cameroon

A Douglas man who bought almost 3,000 Diazepam tablets from the Cameroon with the intention of selling them on will be sentenced next month.

Customs officers stopped a parcel intended for 29-year-old Gary Pownall on February 10th after becoming suspicious.

It contained 2,900 tablets of two varying strengths - a search warrant was later executed at two addresses which also turned up a female cannabis plant.

Pownall then gave police permission to check his bank account where they'd found he transferred £300 to the Cameroon on January 27th in exchange for the drugs.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Pownall pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of the Class C drug and possession of it with intent to supply - he also admitted cultivating cannabis.

The court was told the Diazepam had been forensically tested - it had a street value of £2450.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before he's sentenced on July 12th - he's been bailed in the meantime.
