Tenancy Clause Aims to Relocate Smaller Households Out Of Bigger Homes to Cope With Demand From Large Families
Douglas Corporation are urging residents in local authority housing not to be alarmed by a new clause in their recently sent out tenancy agreements.
It states that efforts will be made to relocate householders to a smaller property if their house is currently bigger than what they require.
It’s said to be in an effort to cater for larger families needing housing.
Councillor David Ashford spoke to 3FM in an effort to allay the concerns of the residents, saying that they currently don't have the extra properties needed to carry out such a scheme.
He also said it's common place for some residents to request to be moved to a smaller home when their children have all moved out.
