Douglas South MHK Kate Costain has stepped down.
The news was revealed in an open letter, sent out last night.
She describes the decision as 'not an easy one to make' and adds her health issues have contributed to the decision.
She reflects on her nine years as an MHK, but states the Chief Secretary and his Chief Officers Group wield more power than is rightfully theirs.
Thanking her constituents, family and friends, Miss Costain continued "it is now right that someone with more energy is chosen by the people of Douglas South."
That leaves the constituency with no MHKs, following the passing of Bill Malarkey earlier this year and delayed by-election due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
