Dredging rivers in Douglas unlikely following flooding

Extensive work to try and prevent rivers in Douglas from flooding again is a top priority - but they're unlikely to be dredged. 

That's the admission from the Manx Utilities Authority which is responsible for the rivers Douglas, Dhoo and Glass:
 
 
Millions of pounds worth of damage was caused to businesses - particularly around the Hills Meadow area - last year and there are fears they could be hit again if something isn't done. 
 
It's led to calls for the rivers to be dredged - however chairman Alf Cannan says this isn't on the cards:
