    Drug funding decision is 'worst element of job' says Minister

    In Tynwald this week Howard Quayle will be quizzed on his department's policy on the use of the drug Translarna.

    The Health and Social Care Minister says he's continually being asked to fund potentially lifesaving drugs for people on the Isle of Man:

    Translarna is a treatment that can help young sufferers of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but isn't currently available on the Island 

    Decisions on drug funding are made by a clinical review committee which looks at requests on a case by case basis - Mr Quayle says it's important that results are proven before money is spent on them:
