New laws governing education on the Island will be brought before Tynwald later this year after an overwhelming response from the public.
Education minister Graham Cregeen says originally he'd hoped to have the legislation before Tynwald in April.
But after more than 600 people responded to the Education Bill consultation, he says his department needs more time to perfect it.
Tynwald will now discuss it for the first time after parliament's summer recess.
