Emergency shelter now available for Laxey residents

Emergency shelter is now available for those affected by severe flooding.

Locals have rallied round to offer accommodation for residents in Laxey, after torrential rain both overnight and this morning.

A group of volunteers have created a Facebook group  'Manx Weather Watch 2019' which has been set up to help provide emergency care.

Food, clothes, blankets and free accommodation are being arranged.

There is also a rest centre set up in the Christ Church behind the CO-OP in Laxey.

An Amber alert for heavy rain from the Met Office remains in place until 4pm today.
