February trial for woman accused of sex charges

Trial dates have been set for a Douglas woman who's been accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.

52-year-old Karen Evans appeared at Douglas Courthouse last week for a pre-trial review where she was told she'll stand trial on February 27th.

She's pleaded not guilty to five offences including indecently assaulting a child and two offences of gross indecency with a person under the age of 16.

The offences allegedly took place between October 1997 and October 1999.

The seven day jury trial will be presided over by Deemster Montgomerie - she has been bailed until the trial starts next year.

UPDATE: Karen Evans was cleared of all charges in February 2017 - you can find details here
