Fine for man who was abusive to public and police

22-year-old Bobby Chadwick was fined at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week after pleading guilty to a public order offence which took place on August 12th. 

 

He was in a group of men who were drinking on the grass embankment by Castle Rushen - they were shouting and swearing in front of members of the public. 

 

Police attended and told the men to move on leading the group to start swearing and shouting at officers. 

 

Chadwick's advocate told the court he accepted his behaviour was "unacceptable" and called it a "blip" saying with the benefit of hindsight his client realised he should have taken their advice. 

 

Sentencing him the Magistrates fined him £300 and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £75 - he will repay the fine at a rate of £5 per week.
