Freedom of Information bill in last sitting of present Parliament

The Bill has been shaped following extensive public consultation.

In the House of Keys today the Chief Minister has been asked about his decision to introduce a Freedom of Information Bill at the last sitting of the present Parliament.

Responding to the question from Michael MHK David Cannan, the Chief Minister said it was always his intention to put the bill before the House during this legislative session.

He said it would give both the Members of the House and the public the chance to view the final format of this important piece of legislation.

The Bill has been shaped following extensive public consultation.

It will now be for the next House to determine if it wishes to take the Bill forward in its present state.
